I did not know until this year. The way to buy and sell guitars has shifted in both the United States and Japan in the last decade or two. Nowadays, you don’t need to visit local guitar shops to buy guitars. You sit in front of your PC, make a few clicks at 2 AM in your comfy room.

For new guitars, people use SweetWater in the United States and Sound House in Japan. They are two giants on the internet. In a couple of days, your new guitars are delivered to your doorstep.

If you are looking for used or antique guitars, people use Digimart or J-Guitars in Japan as platforms. I noticed that many large, medium-sized, and independent stores post their stock. I am not sure what people in the United States use at the moment.

The fun fact I came across was that Fender teamed up with Amazon to sell an Internet Exclusive deal globally. The product line is called the Squire Debut Collection. I recently purchased a Tele for JPY 20,000. What a bargain for an authentic Squier Telecaster! You can also buy a Strat and a P-Bass.
